France to Further Extend Mandatory Mask Wearing

French Prime Minister Castay said during his inspection in the southern city of Montpellier on the 11th that in view of the worsening trend of the epidemic situation in France, it is necessary to further expand the scope of compulsory wearing of masks in public places, and extend the prohibition of assembly of more than 5,000 people until October 30th.

On the same day, French President Macron hosted a video defense conference on responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and Niger attack at the presidential summer residence in Songburg, southern Bregand. After the meeting, Macron tweeted that "the epidemic will not take a vacation", and he asked the French people to abide by the hygiene and epidemic prevention regulations and remain vigilant.

When inspecting Montpellier Medical Center after the meeting, Castay said that the French COVID-19 epidemic has deteriorated in recent two weeks, and the number of confirmed cases, hospitalized cases and severe patients has increased greatly every day. To this end, he asked provincial governors to expand the scope of compulsory wearing of masks in public places as much as possible, and also asked labor ministers and finance ministers to study the problem of making people wear masks in all workplaces as much as possible.

Castay reminded the French people not to relax in the face of the epidemic, instead to keep a high degree of vigilance. He said that the purpose of strengthening these measures is to avoid restarting the "city closure" measures. He promised to improve the virus detection system, screen in time and improve the effectiveness of isolation measures.

According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Health on the 11th, there were 1,397 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in France within 24 hours, with a total of 204,172 cases; there were 15 new deaths, with a total of 30,354 cases; a total of 82,836 cases were cured.
