Doctors Explains Why People Should not Wear Face Masks outdoor in Cold Weather

Infectious disease specialist Yelena Belova from Scientific Clinical Department of AIDS Prevention and Control Center of Moscow Health Department, Russia said to Satellite News Agency that if there are dense crowds of people outdoor, people should wear their masks. If not, they needn't wear as masks will become wet and get cold quickly.

When answering the question about whether it will cause a cold while wearing face masks outdoor, Belova said, "If people yawn or cough, sneezing at the mask, in which the water-drop will begin to cool down for low temperature, with which people are getting cold. Why we do such thing? We should take off our masks."

Belova pointed out that, people can have no face masks if they stay alone in a room. She strengthened that, it is improper to use face masks to warm your respiratory tract. "If a person wants to get warm, he had better pull high his scarf. While face masks will get wet soon, losing its protective function, it cannot warm people up," said she.
